Frequently Asked Questions

What regulatory requirements do South African fintechs need to comply with when using AI models?
SA fintechs using AI for lending must comply with the NCA (affordability assessments and adverse action disclosures), NCR registration requirements, POPIA for data processing and consent, FICA for AML/KYC, and FSCA licensing requirements. iTuring supports all of these with built-in documentation and governance workflows.
Yes. iTuring serves FSCA-licensed South African fintechs with credit AI, fraud detection, and collections tools. The platform’s explainability and audit trails support FSCA on-site inspections and conduct reviews.
The NCA prohibits reckless lending. iTuring’s credit models are built with full explainability so that every approval decision can demonstrate that a proper affordability assessment was conducted and documented, as required by NCR supervisory standards.
Yes. POPIA Section 71 grants data subjects the right to request human review of automated decisions. iTuring enables configurable human-in-the-loop escalation, plain-language decision rationale, and complete data lineage for any subject access request.
Yes. POPIA Section 71 restricts automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on data subjects. While POPIA does not prescribe an explicit right to human review, iTuring goes beyond the minimum: the platform enables configurable human-in-the-loop escalation for any automated credit decision, generates plain-language decision rationale for every outcome, and maintains complete data lineage for any data subject access or objection request under POPIA.
